ROLE OF A MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELOR:
My primary goal is to promote and enhance student learning. I work hard to build connections not only with the students but with their parents/guardians as well. I am here to advocate for your child as I serve as a liaison between you and your child’s teachers. In addition, I welcome and orient new students to Birchwood, provide transition help from grade 5 to grade 6 and from grade 8 to grade 9. School counselors have the ability to do individual counseling, small group counseling, and provide community and academic resources. I work to deliver developmental guidance lessons via google classroom and aid in the writing of a meaningful ILP. Also, I meet with all the academic teams for their grade level.
