The North Providence Sports Hall of Fame Nominating Committee is currently accepting applications for Induction into the Sports Hall of Fame.

HALL OF FAME ELIGIBILITY

Hall of Fame nominees shall include individuals who, through distinguished achievement, have excelled in athletics or made a significant contribution to athletics in the Town of North Providence.  The nominee should be at least 25 years of age by August 1 of the year nominated for the Sports Hall of Fame and for the Outstanding Community Service Award should have served the Town of North Providence for 25 cumulative years.

All nominations must be received by the North Providence Hall of Fame committee no later than August 1, 2026.

The North Providence Sports Hall of Fame Nominating Committee has established the inductee nomination and election process. Any citizen in the Town of North Providence has the privilege of nominating a person/specific team, living or deceased, who has brought fame and glory to the Town of North Providence by his/her/their athletic accomplishments. The number of inductees to be elected is determined bi-annually by the North Providence Nominating Committee in consultation with the Mayor of the Town of North Providence.

Purpose of the North Providence Sports Hall of Fame:

The purpose of the North Providence Sports Hall of Fame is to honor and recognize outstanding individuals who have had a significant and lasting impact on the lives of Rhode Island’s youth through their involvement in high school athletic programs as an Administrator, Athletic Director, Coach, Booster, Sports Writer, Broadcaster, Team Physician, Contributor in the Community, player etc.

Qualifications for the North Providence Sports Hall of Fame

A person may qualify for the Athletic Hall of Fame by falling into one or more of the following categories, including posthumously. Individuals nominated for selection to the North Providence Sports Hall of Fame must have by long association and/or residency in the Town of North Providence made:

• An outstanding contribution to the cause of sports in North Providence, the State of Rhode Island, the nation, or the world.
• Have participated in high school athletics, having earned a letter in a particular sport. In addition, the individual also may have received all conference, region, or all-American honors at the high school and / or collegiate level, or has attained a profession in athletics.
• Achieved a distinguished record at a high level in his or her area of sports endeavor, with consideration given to integrity, sportsmanship and character.
• Male or female participants in any recognized form of sports competition are eligible for nomination.

Outstanding Community Service Award

Those who have given meritorious service to the North Providence School system and / or community / recreational athletic programs or North Providence residents who have given meritorious service to other such athletic programs may qualify for this award.
