As you may know, on Thursday Governor Raimondo held her weekly press conference about COVID-19, at which time she spoke about high schools having the option to switch to a “Limited In-Person” Plan, starting November 30th through December 13th. The Governor also indicated that high schools may remain under their current plan, if districts felt that COVID cases were limited. After consultation with the high school administration, due to the fact that our current hybrid model essentially is a “limited in person” plan, and has enabled our high school to maintain safe levels of social distancing, de-densification, low class size, and mask wearing, North Providence High School will remain under its current plan of operation.
There will be no change to our current schedule at the high school at this time. In the next few days Principal Christen Magill will be sending an email to families with the in person learning schedule for the month of December, which will be similar to the schedule implemented in November. Parents/guardians of current in person learners may request to temporarily move their child to distance learning from November 30th to December 13th without having to wait until the end of the quarter to return to school in person. Parents/guardians who wish to do this should email the principal at
christen.magill@npsd.k12.ri.us. Families who travel out of state during Thanksgiving must quarantine upon return to Rhode Island and students cannot attend school during the quarantine period. Please also be reminded as always that students should stay home from school if they feel symptomatic, or if they are waiting for the results of a COVID test. If a student tests positive, it is very important that the family contact the school immediately.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation during these challenging times. We wish everyone a safe and healthy Thanksgiving.
